What Tippd is
Workers report what a single shift actually paid at a specific NYC venue. Anyone can look up that venue and see, per role, what the job really pays. That's the whole product.
Roles are never mixed
A bartender and a busser do not appear in the same number, ever. Every figure on Tippd is scoped to one venue and one role: bartender, server, barback, busser, or host.
Why medians, not averages
One monster New Year's Eve shift can drag an average somewhere useless. A typical shift on Tippd is the median — the middle of what people actually reported. Estimates from a median are shown with a leading ~ and no cents.
When we don't know the hourly
Plenty of people know their tips to the dollar and have no idea what their hourly base is. If the hourly isn't reported, we show reported tips and tips per hour — and we never show a total or an effective hourly, because we'd be inventing it.
What we never store
No names, no emails, no logins, no exact shift dates. Reports carry a season and year (“Summer 2026”), nothing finer. Nothing tied to a report can identify who filed it.
Demo data
While Tippd is being built, some venues show sample reports so the pages can be tested. Those are always marked Demo data and will be deleted before launch. We do not present invented earnings as real worker reports.
